You see what you want

I saw this research paper on Slashdot that claimed that you see what you want to believe and the first thought that crossed my mind was Rashomon, a brilliant film by Akira Kurosawa that I really enjoyed back when I saw it. I didn't know it was based on a short story, but it's really interesting.

If you want to watch a couple of Kurosawa films and you don't want to buy the DVD, you can rent them out from Cinema Paradiso or Ric Video. There are some real gems there.

Christopher Nolan's 'The Prestige' has quite the same theme too.

It does? I had no clue. I thought it was Just Another Generic Hollywood Movie.

It's a brilliant movie. The plot is quite simple. You don't see what's under your nose because you don't really want to. And Christopher Nolan never makes generic movies.

Nope, I haven't seen that, though I'll look around for it. Thanks for the tip.

If you feel like watching more Kurosawa, try Yojimbo and Sanjuro, the second particularly is pretty damn awesome at the end.
